The hotly-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens has finally been screened to the public - and film fans have flooded Twitter with their first impressions.
So, does JJ Abrams' latest blockbuster live up to the hype?
Adam B. Vary gave a glowing review, particularly praising the incoming cast: "Rest easy: The Force Awakens is 100 per cent Star Wars and something new,: he wrote.
"Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac: welcome."
Rebecca Keegan was also very impressed, sharing: "Story, characters, design, humour. Stars Wars fans, this is the movie you're looking for."
"Star Wars premiere just letting out now. A LOT of smiling faces," said someone else.
IMDB has already given it a 9.5 rating, with one reviewer describing it as the “perfect synthesis of old and new”.
They continued: "The new characters are very well written and portrayed, with just enough depth to them. They really feel like they fit in with this established universe. However the real highlight is the original cast. None of them slack off, but Harrison Ford really shines from among them.
"He's grown as an actor significantly since 1977, and he really brings some serious clout. It's impossible not to get a little teary-eyed seeing Han Solo back in the Millennium Falcon."
While back on Twitter another film fan added: "Star Wars premiere just letting out now. A LOT of smiling faces."
Brett Morgen was definitely won over, writing: "Force Awakens might be the best blockbuster since the origina. Force Awakens delivers on every level."
Monday night's premiere, which is being described as one the biggest the world's ever seen, saw original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher join the likes of John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Gwendoline Christie almost four decades on from the release of the first film.
Note: A regional premiere is also due to take place in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday night.
