The 25-year-old actor took to Instagram with a selfie on Saturday, April 20, which marked the annual 4/20 celebration for marijuana users.
'FUN STORY: Few years ago (4 exactly) showed up lil high to Easter brunch... classic,' Patrick said. 'My old man asked why... said “I dunno makes thing more fun."'
Patrick said that Arnold responded, 'How much more fun do you need to have, life is so good. I’m high on life.'
The Los Angeles native said he would 'never want anything that would take [him] out of [his] current life, as 'being high on life is better then anything else.'
The son of the action hero and Maria Shriver wrapped up by saying, 'Long story short... Haven’t smoked since then... just HIGH ON LIFE NOW! Happy & healthy & can’t thank god enough to see another day! Happy 4/20 sorry if that was a buzz kill lol.'
Arnold was famously seen in the 1977 documentary Pumping Iron puffing on a marijuana joint during a scene in which he sang Happy Birthday to fellow bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno.
In the run up to his successful 2003 gubernatorial run in California, Schwarzenegger riffed off a Bill Clinton gaffe in addressing the scene, noting that it was something that was consistent with the era it took place in, and his youth at the time.
'I did smoke a joint and I did inhale,' told the AP in a November 2002 interview. 'The bottom line is that's what it was in the '70s, that's what I did. I have never touched it since.
'I lived a certain life, I want everyone to know that's the life I lived. As you grow up and as you become more mature, those things change - the only one that's perfect is God.'
Once in office, Arnold signed legislation to reduce the legal penalties for people who possessed less than an ounce of marijuana.
'No one cares if you smoke a joint or not,' he told Jay Leno in a 2010 appearance on The Tonight Show.
