The Salalah Tourism Festival 2016 will be held from July 15 to August 31 under the theme ‘Oman, Love and Harmony’.
A senior official from Dhofar Municipality said that preparations are underway to meet the rising number of tourists during the Eid holidays as well as for rest of the khareef season.
In a special meeting called by H E Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, the authorities last week reviewed the preparations to welcome tourists during Eid and the khareef season.
Authorities have assured that all stakeholders are ready to serve the visitors during the season, especially during the Eid al Fitr holidays in terms of traffic management, maintaining the safety of residents and visitors, vehicle movement on the roads leading to Dhofar governorate through the wilayat of Thumrait and the coastal road through the wilayat of Shaleem and Halaniyat Islands.
The meeting also discussed readiness of medical services for visitors well as ambulance services on the Adam-Thumrait road. Preparations of the hospitality sector, availability of enough cash at ATMs, monitoring the prices of commodities to prevent exploitation by traders, were some of the other topics discussed and reviewed.
The meeting was attended by Abdullah bin Aqeel al Ibrahim, acting deputy governor Dhofar, H E Sheikh Salim al Shanfari, head of Dhofar Municipality, officials of the Dhofar Police Command and representatives of other government bodies.
