Prominent Egyptian actors Nour and Poussy have officially divorced after a 33 year marriage. Nour assured that the divorce occurred a few days ago, without giving any clear reasons for the split.
According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Nour noted that he had denied the news of the divorce in order to postpone the negative publicity. Nour’s business manager revealed that another reason the actor denied the news at first was in an effort to protect his daughters.
Poussy refused to comment publicly, stating the matter is very personal.
Sources have revealed that some of the reasons behind the divorce was that Nour is intimately involved with another woman, young Tunisian actress Sandi. Sandi came to Cairo four years ago searching for an opportunity in the acting world, and was given one by Nour.
Sandy has denied being the reason behind the divorce, stressing that only a good friendship exists between her and Nour. She respects him for giving her an opportunity and nominating her for a major role in his most recent film “Dam Ghazal” (Deer’s Blood), she explained.
Nour and Poussy fell in love in the late sixties on the set of their first television drama they appeared in together “Al Kahira Wal Nas” (Cairo and People), which led to their fame. The two married in 1972 and had two daughters.
