Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram has refused to hold any Valentine’s Day concerts, declining all offers she received from Syria, Egypt and the UAE.
February 14 will mark the one year anniversary of the death of Lebanon’s former Prime Minister Rafiq Al Hariri, and Nancy stated that it is her duty as a Lebanese citizen to commemorate this day, as most Lebanese plan to do.
Ajram has sparked a dispute between her and Moroccan singer Samira Saeed.
During an interview Nancy stated that she was not so familiar with Samira, and many understood Nancy’s remarks as an indication of her superiority.
Nancy tried to justify her remarks, explaining that she knows Samira is a very prominent singer, but that she does not know her personally and was unsure if she is Algerian or Moroccan.
On a different note, Ajram has stressed that she does not intend to become internationally renowned, and assured that her recent tour around the USA was marketed to her Arab fans residing there.
Nancy revealed that her new album is now ready for release and will be available in stores in the coming days. The new album, "Atabtib Wa Dala’a" (I will Comfort and Spoil) features ten songs. Nancy filmed the main song of the album "Atabtib" in the form of a music video under the direction of Nadine Libky in the southern Lebanese city of Saida.
