One week after the end of the British Hope Foundation charity event, which took place at the Royal Albert Hall in England, many are still wondering why Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi never made it. Chairman of the foundation, Taymoor Marmarchi, has stressed that Nawal had done all she could to try and attend the event, which brought singers from different nationalities throughout the world together to raise funds for the sake of Iraqi children who are suffering from leukemia.

Taymoor added that the foundation had made flight reservations for the singer and her band. The mix-up had occurred when Nawal and her crew were heading to the plane and realized that the airline company had failed to confirm their reservations. The singer had tried everything with the airline company in order to provide her with seats on the plane heading to England, but was unsuccessful due to the fact that the plane was overbooked. The singer at this point tried to contact the organizers of the event in London to tell them of her misforturne, but could not reach anyone and so headed back to Lebanon.

According to the London based daily, Al Hayat, Taymoor revealed that he is currently trying to contact the airline company to find out who is responsible for not confirming the reservations of the singer. He added that Nawal supports the foundation’s cause and is willing to constantly work with them. Taymoor noted that he made a personal call to the singer, who on her behalf expressed her regrets at being unable to attend the event, a matter which is proof that there is no misunderstanding between both sides.

Taymoor added that on the day of fundraising event, they did not know why Nawal failed to be present, but were expecting her to appear at any moment, and that is the reason they did not announce anything to the audience.

Nawal was scheduled to hold a live performance at the Royal Albert Hall, but the event ended without the attendance of Nawal. The organizers of the event did not give any justification for Nawal’s mysterious absence and were unable to ease the anger of the audience, which came from all around Europe to watch Nawal sing.

Nawal’s managing office had at that point announced that while the singer was in Jordan she was scheduled to travel to London directly along with her band, but upon arriving at Queen Alia Airport in Jordan, Nawal was in shock to learn that no reservations were made for her or her band by the organizing committee. At this point the singer requested that the airline company find reservations for her to fly business class since first class was fully book, and in order to make it on time to hold her concert in England, but was surprised when she was denied her request due to the fact that the entire flight to England was fully booked and there was no way to alter the situation.

Al Zoughbi had decided to put off the release of her upcoming album and any new music video until November, due to the fact that so many new albums have been released this summer season and she simply wanted more emphasis to be placed on her album.

Nawal revealed that her new album features ten songs sung in the Lebanese, Egyptian and Khaliji (Gulf) style. The singer has gone back to the classical genre mixing in a touch of traditional Lebanese Tarab. Nawal plans on shooting three songs in the form of a music video in which two are to be filmed in Turkey under the direction of Said Marouq, and the third song, which tells a drama story, under the direction of Salim Turk. –Albawaba.com
