After wrapping up shooting his role in the film “Fire Belt” directed by Bahij Hajij, the Lebanese actor Nidaa Wakim who lives in Paris is gearing up for a new film.

Wakim, 37, left Lebanon 27 years ago at the beginning of the civil war in Lebanon when he was only 10.

“My parents did not abandon Arabic in France as they taught it to me very well, the fact that helped me always in some of the cinema and theatrical works,” Wakim told the daily al Nahar.

He added, “ by coincidence all the roles I have played so far either go through or end up with craziness. Anyway every person who takes art as a profession is mad by instinct. Our profession is nothing but an extension to our childhood which with its innocence and simplicity is not free from madness.”

The young actor believes that he finds all opportunities and capabilities to become one of the French stars. “I have come from a country, which suffered from war, pain and miseries. It is true that I was not here but I lived every difficult moment which my homeland, relatives and friends faced,” he said.

“On the other hand, my morals and cultures have been influenced by France where I grew up and by the US where I studied. I have also been influenced by Switzerland where I worked. Therefore there is a mixture inside me but I have my own experience. In acting the most important thing is how you lived because anyone who has no private life full of experience will never be able to perform on the stage or in front of the camera. In acting, education alone is not enough for one to be intimate and genuine,” said Wakim -- Albawaba.com
