Netflix has renewed its comedy-drama Dear White Peoplefor a third season following the May premiere of Season 2.
The streaming service made the announcement Thursday on YouTube by releasing a video of the show's narrator, actor Giancarlo Esposito, who was seen for the first time in the Season 2 finale.
Esposito's character is a member of the Order of X, a secret society inside the show's college campus setting.
"Now that I have your attention," Esposito says in the clip. "I come with a message of truth. To clarify the false information that's being disseminated around the world today, Dear White People will be returning to Netflix for Season 3. We'll meet you there."
Dear White People, from creator Justin Simien and based on his 2014 film of the same name, stars Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori, Ashley Blaine Featherson and Marque Richardson.
"Set against the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university where racial tensions bubble just below the surface, Dear White People is a send-up of the now post 'post-racial' America that weaves together a universal story of finding one's own identity and forging a wholly unique path," reads the synopsis.
Season 2 of the series tackled topics such as cultural appropriation, sex and gender norms, nepotism, black lesbians and conspiracy theories.
