It was never going to last forever.

Remember Reed Hastings? The Netflix CEO was spotted muttering darkly last month, lamenting how Netflix was so lamentably good at making TV shows he couldn’t axe enough of them.

“Our hit ratio is way too high right now,” he said. “We should have a higher cancel rate.”

Then the axe came out: swish, it went, murdering The Get Down. Thwack, it went, ending Sense8.

And all was well…

But Hastings was not satisfied. He was merely biding his time, awaiting his next chance to use The Axe. And use it he did: fashion comedy Girlboss has been knocked off the catwalk and chopped into the winds after a single season.

In a series of Instagram stories, executive producer and #Girlboss author Sophia Amoruso discussed the cancellation, stating she was looking forward to “controlling [her] narrative from here on out.” (I guess being executive producer wasn’t executive enough?)

The show starred Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland).

Back at Netflix, all is well…

For now.
