Lebanese singer Nelly Maqdasi openly stated that she considers having an intimate sexual relationship before marriage is a normal thing and has nothing to do with traditions or ethics. She stressed that times have changed and so should the mentality of people towards the physical nature of relationships between men and women.
The singer has expressed willingness to have sex before marriage and claimed that in some instances, it is necessary to make a relationship succeed. She added that protecting one’s honor and ethics has nothing to do with saving yourself until marriage, but rather by being honorable in the way you behave and respect others.
Nelly said that premarital sex does not hurt a man or a woman and what harms a relationship is betrayal and cheating after marriage. She stressed that having sex brings a couple closer to one another and they begin to know each other much better.
Nelly questioned why the mentality of many people is that a man’s honor is by what he says, his personality, honesty and generosity, while as the woman’s honor is tied to her physicality and whether or not she is a virgin marriage.
According to the Arab magazine Nadine, Nelly revealed that what disturbs her most about a man is if he snores while sleeping. She added that she moves a lot when she sleeps and for this reason refuses to sleep with her husband in the same room. She said, “sleeping far away from each other makes us long for one another and always being together aggravates us and makes us want to escape.”
