On the occasion of her performance at the Orbit Music Festival on the 27th of December, Lebanese songstress Nawal Zughbi sat down for an interview with Orbit Satellite Network journalists in order to discuss her plans for the holidays.
The beautiful songstress spoke freely about her love for Christmas, cooking, children and Amr Diab songs.
Following is the full text of the Orbit.net interview:
Q: How do you spend the holiday season? Do you enjoy shopping and buying gifts?
Nawal: Now that I have my daughter Tia, the meaning of Christmas became stronger. Christmas is one of the most important celebrations for children, this is how I felt when I was a kid, and I think this is what Tia is feeling now. I notice this because I see her joy when I take her shopping or when we decorate the tree.
Q: What is the gift that you will give her this year, and what gift would you like to receive?
Nawal: I will try and notice which toy Tia likes more and I will buy it to her. As for the gift that I want for myself, I think the family that God granted me is the most beautiful gift I can ever dream about.
Q: Where are you spending the holidays this year?
A: I will spend Christmas as usual with my family in Lebanon.
Q: Who will be present around your Christmas table?
Nawal: In the past years, we used to spend it once with my parents, and then with my in-laws. This year, I invited all of them to our house.
Q: We know that you're a great "chef", are you going to cook for them?
Nawal: Of course, I love to, but I will do this, of course, with the help of my mother who taught me the principles of preparing Lebanese dishes.
Q: Where will you spend New Year's Eve?
Nawal: I will spend the New Year's Eve in Beirut. I have a big concert at Phoenicia Hotel.
Q: What's the best memory that you will carry with you from year 2000?
Nawal: Year 2000 was a very successful year with many victories. The first memory I will keep is the "Liberation of the South Lebanon". The other memories are the title that I won in Egypt and Lebanon "Best Artist of Year 2000", and the overwhelming success of my albumEl Layali, which I don't have to forget.
Q: What's the worst experience that you went through in Year 2000?
Nawal: The worst was some people trying to get me with nasty rumors that have nothing to do with reality. These people are sick and jealous, and as a holiday gift, I hope they will recover very soon!
Q: What's the nicest song that you heard in Year 2000?
Nawal: I liked a lot of my colleagues' songs, such asTamalli Ma'ak by Amro Diab and Al Alem Allah.
Q: Which one of your songs are you most happy with?
Nawal: I liked El Layali, of course which was very successful. Sales surpassed our expectations and many production companies can testify that.
Q: What do you wish for next year?
Nawal: My wish is always the same, true peace for all human beings.
Q: What are your plans for next year?
Nawal: I have a lot of plans, and one of them is to continue what I have started to do in Europe to strengthen my position there. – Albawaba.com.
