Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi has turned down an invitation to appear as a guest on the popular show “Li Man Yajro’ Fakat” (For Those Who Dare Only) aired on the Lebanese Broadcasting Company (LBC).
The show’s host, Tony Khalifa, had sent a special request to the singer asking for her appearance, and was extremely disappointed with her refusal.
Nawal stated that she does not like appearing on “shows that devote attention to ridiculous rumors fueled by the media.”
“The shows discusses too many personal issues, placing the guest on the spot and in many instances causing embarrassment,” Nawal added.
The singer’s summer schedule is packed with performances around the Arab world and Europe, the highlight of which is her participation in this year’s Jordanian annual summer festival in Jarrash on July 23, after being absent from the festival since 1997, and a grand concert in London on August 21 at the Apollo Hammer Smith Hall.
Elli Deeb, Nawal’s business manager and husband, revealed that negotiations between his wife and Rotana Production Company reached a dead end due to Nawal’s refusal to abide by Rotana’s conditions of exclusivity.
Nawal recently terminated her contract with Alam El Phan Production Company, and Deeb stressed that regardless of the company Nawal settles on, she must have complete freedom to distribute her music.
