Jewish actress Natalie Portman has been happy to be back in her homeland with her converting hubby, whom she met on set the Hollywood hit "Black Swan", and their young son Aleph. The Jerusalem-born actress is currently on location in Israel to film an adaption of Amos Oz's "A Tale of Love and Darkness". After moving to the US at the age of three, Natalie has decided to return to her roots to make her directorial debut with the autobiographical story about the Israeli author.
According to The Times of Israel, the neighborhood chosen to shoot the project had been approved by the Jerusalem municipality, but the ultra-Orthodox residents were not made aware that the cameras were coming to town. Now many of those dwelling in the Nahlaot neighborhood are unhappy because “the film shooting is set to take place on several sensitive streets close to synagogues and yeshivas," they put in a letter to the municipality.
Haaretz.com reported that some have taken to graffiti spraying their frustrations with the "foreign invasion", meanwhile the municipality promises the cast and crew will be dressed modestly.
