Upon returning from her shopping spree in Paris and Lebanon preparing for her daughter's wedding, Egyptian prominent actress Najlaa Fathi was in shock when she realized that circulating rumors stated that she had resigned and quit her acting career. The actress stressed that she never made any such announcements, and the reason behind her absence from the scenes is due to several different reasons.

According to the Egyptian weekly, Al Nogoom, Najlaa stated that her first reason for being away from the scenes, is her daughter's upcoming wedding. She is currently preparing and planning all the essential details with her daughter and has made a vow not to return to acting until her daughter is in her new home with her husband. Najlaa has traveled to Europe and Lebanon where she and her daughter bought all the necessities needed for the wedding and the bride's new home.

Najlaa added that her second reason is the fact that she has not received any offer that was up to her standards. She stressed that she will not just accept any role that does not add to her long line of success. Any offer she may accept has to be fully examined and studied.

It was rumored that Najlaa had officially ended her acting career on the day of her daughter's engagement, and that she had slowly been pulling out of the acting world for the past few months wanting to dedicate her time solely to her husband and daughter. It was stated that since Najlaa is now mother of the bride and is living in an emotional atmosphere she had made up her mind to stop acting and realized that the time has come for her to resign from her profession, after achieving all her dreams in the acting world and making a name for her self among some of the most prominent actors, feeling it necessary to stop in order to keep the beautiful memories she had throughout her career alive.

Najlaa's last film was "Batal Min Al Junoob" (A Hero from the South) directed by Mohammad Ab Yousif and was filmed in Lebanon. The actress has received a number of awards throughout her acting career, the last being an award from the Rotary club for best Arab actress for the year 2002.

Najlaa is currently living a peaceful and quiet life with her daughter and husband, Hamdi Kandeel. The actress commented that she has given most of her life to acting and the time has come to dedicate the rest of her life to her family and home. Najlaa also announced that she will not be taking part in the film by Samah Anwar in which she was to star in with Omar El Sherif. –Albawaba.com
