The young actress and renowned Egyptian ballet dancer Nadeen has announced that she will quit acting and continue as a ballet dancer with the Egyptian Opera Troupe.

Nadeen was born in Cairo in 1978 to an artistic family, and began studying ballet dancing before she was six years old.

The artist began her career in 1997 with her TV competition Mabnistaghnash (We Cannot Do Without) directed by Ashraf Looli. Then she returned in 1998 with the series Jeeran Al Hana (Pleasure Neighbors) directed by Amr Abdeen. She later starred in the series Khayal Al Thel (Image of the Shade) directed by Yehya Al Al Alami.

Nadeen then indulged in several successful experiences in cinema, including Saidi Rayeh Gai (Saidi Going and Coming) along with Hani Ramzi. She also costarred in the play Malaeeb (Tricks) along with Majed Al Masri and participated in the series Al Fares Wal Masiadeh (The Worrier and the Trap) along with Mahmoud Abdel Aziz.

“I have decided to quit acting after careful, unemotional thinking, after I found that most of the roles offered to me recently were far below the level of the performances I have offered. Why should I lower myself, particularly in view of the fact that I am not looking for wealth and my acting was just a hobby, not a profession,” Nadeen told the UAE daily Al Bayan.

She added, “I have succeeded in presenting myself to the people, who have been convinced of my talent. I tried my luck with the cinema, TV and theater and have finally found ballet dancing to be the only thing suitable for me to pursue, because it is an art I’ve been tied to since early childhood.”

Nadeen said that there were other reasons behind her quitting, including her desire for a stable life without gossip.

“This is in addition to the fact that I am currently working for an insurance company and art, for me, has become part of the past,” she added.

Responding to a question about whether a potential marriage had required her to abandon her acting, Nadeen said, “This is baseless, since I haven’t had any ties with anybody since my engagement to Majed Al Masri was broken off. Furthermore, I am not the type of person who surrenders to other people’s demands. Building a family is not like the construction of a building or the establishment of an investment project. It is something different which includes love, sympathy, children and stability.” - Albawaba.com
