Egyptian singer Mustafa Amar is preparing to release his new album “17,” the same number of albums he released since the start of his singing career, according to the Qatari daily Al Raya.  The new album, featuring 12 songs will be available in stores late this year.

Amar has finished recording two songs for the album, one written by Amro Al Jarem and composed by Yaser Noor, and the other written by Muhammad Atef and composed by Rami Jamal.  Tareq Madkoor will be distributing the album.

Meanwhile, Amar is composing new songs for a number of singers like Ihab Tawfiq, Hisham Abas, Shireen Abed El Wahab and Midhat Saleh.

Amar’s latest movie “Isabit Dr. Omar” (Dr. Omar’s Gang) will be released this season.  He performs two songs in the film - “Insani” (Forget Me), written by Khaled Al Bashishi and composed by Muhammad Al Minadi, and “Howa Da Ayebo” (This is what he’s ashamed of) written by Amro Jarem and composed by Muhammad Al Sharnobi.

Amar recently accomplished a second feat.  Working nonstop, he managed to compose 45 songs in just ten days for the new musical “Watan El Jonoon” (The Crazy Country), scheduled to open this winter season.  Composer Nabeel Khalaf made a deal with Ashraf Zaki, president of ‘Beit Al Fani for Theater’ for Amar to take part in the play.

“Watan Al Jonoon” is a metaphor for a world where mentally ill people reside, refusing to move from the past into the new world where we now live.  The play, produced by Muhsin Hilmi also stars Egyptian singer Ali El-Hajar.

Amar has refused payment for his participation in the play thus far, stating he wants to encourage more musical productions in Egyptian theater.
