The Music Legacy Museum was opened Sunday in Cairo where variety of old musical instruments will be displayed in addition to documenting the history of the most prominent old singers and musicians including the late renowned musician and singer Mohammed Abdel Wahab.
After it has been developed and modernized by the Egyptian expertise, the Arabic Music Institute which is considered a beautiful masterpiece in the Islamic architecture will be opened by the Egyptian first lady Mrs. Mubarak Tuesday evening.
The Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni announced that this institute is not only one building but rather three towers in one building including Arabic Music Institute, Mohammed Abdel Wahab’s Museum and Eastern Instruments’ Museum. Arabic music masterpieces will be offered at this institute in addition to the various art activities.
An annual Arabic and international schedule will be prepared as the display hall can cope with Arabic music concerts in addition to foreign classic music concerts. Therefore the institute is considered a valuable asset and an addition to cultural life in Egypt.
The grand celebration will be attended by a number of ministers, Arab and foreign ambassadors, family of late singer Mohammed Abdel Wahab and some artists who participated in his artistic works particularly Faten Hamamah. This renowned actress played in the film Happy Day along with the late singer while she was a young child.
The celebration includes a number of artistic sections and is divided into two parts. The first one begins with a section to be performed by actress Athar al Hakim and to be sung by Sami Abdel Wahab. This was scripted by poet Mustafa al Dhamrani under the direction of Entissar Abdel Fattah.
The second part includes a number of songs by the late singer Mohammed Abdel Wahab to be sung by the Syrian singer Safwan Bahlawan along with Abdel Halim Nuwairah’s Troupe for Arabic Music led by maestro Salah Ghubashi -- Albawaba.com
