Egyptian actor Mukhles Al Behairi, 58, his wife Karima Labib, 49 and their son Marwan, 10, died on Tuesday in a car accident, according to the Egyptian daily Al Gumhouriyyah.
His daughter Mai 14 and his sister-in-law also suffered injuries in the accident, which occurred as Beheiri and his family were on their way to Alexandria to spend a few days on Egypt’s northern coasts.
While driving his car on the desert road near Alexandria, Beheiri suddenly faced a taxi crossing the road in front of him. When he attempted to avoid the taxi, he lost control over his car, which veered from the main road and rolled ovre before coming to rest in Mallahat Lake.
The taxi driver fled the scene. Police are still searching for him to uncover the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The injured were rushed to the University Hospital in Alexandria and the prosecutor general was notified to carry out the necessary investigations. The prosecutor general gave instructions to hand the bodies of the family over to their relatives for burial in the family graveyard in Cairo.
Beheiri performed in a number of films including Ayyam Al Sadat (Sadat Days) and Dusouqi Afandi Fil Masyaf (Desouqi Afandi in Summer Resort), in addition to the TV series Lan Aa’isha Fi jilbab Abi (I Won’t Live in Dad’s Dress) along with the actor Noor Al Sharif. The last appearance of Beheiri on the stage was in the play Ya Msafer Wahdak - Albawaba.com
