Muharram Fuad, also known as the “Voice of the Nile”, passed away on Thursday, leaving an empty space in the Egyptian and Arab performing arts community, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
After 40 years of songs, musical compositions and cinema, the announcement of Muharram Fuad’s death shocked and saddened thousands of fans. He was 68 years old.
Muharram Fuad performed in 13 films, the first of which was the classic Hassan Wa Na’eema starring the late Su’ad Hosni. His celebrated movies also include Ushaq al Hayat, al Malika Wa Ana, Nesf Azra’a and Wada’a Ya Hobb.
Almost 900 songs were performed during Muharram Fuad’s career, which varied from love songs to patriotic songs. Ghaddarin is one of Muharram Fuad’s most famous songs, as well as Elhelwa Dayer Shebakha, Remsh Eino, Ya Waheshni Rud Alay, Salamat Ya Habayeb and Ya Ghazaal Iskandarani.
Muharram Fuad suffered for years from kidney failure and a weak heart, and on June 27 died of a heart attack, leaving behind 13 films and 900 songs, as well as his son, Tareq, who is also a singer – Albawaba.com
