The new Moroccan TV film Al Bakmah, by director Farida Balyazid, tackles kindness to animals, a topic that has never before been addressed in Moroccan drama, according to the Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
The film, which is about treating animals right, raises some important issues. Besides the unfettered love between people and lower forms of life, has some emotional touches conveyed by a love story between the characters Aziz and Noura, played by Rashid Al Wali and Samia Aqrio, respectively.
The two artists also acted out a love story in the film Kaid Al Nisaa (Women Plot) by the same director, which recorded a smash success when it was screened in Morocco.
The new work was produced by Morocco's Channel 2 and was shot in the most beautiful north coastal Moroccan town of Tanja, which Balyazid highlights through its natural charming features.
The film is scheduled to be screened on Dec. 20.
Balyazid also directed the TV film Al Niyyah Taghleb (Intention Wins), which was aired last year by Channel 2 and applauded by the Moroccan audience.
The director is now gearing up to shoot her film Al Dar Al Baydaa (Casablanca) starring Samia Aqrio. It is the third film directed by Balyazid after Bab Al Sama Maftouh (Sky Door Open), 1988 and Kaid Al Nissa (Women Plot), 1999 – Albawaba.com
