After the Egyptian comedy star Mohammed Henaidi has become a superstar, tens of scripts are offered to him but he finds difficulty in selecting what suits him best.
“I suffer in my search for a different idea or scenario and I think I am not the only sufferer in this regard as this also involves all artists who play in a film and then seek good scripts because they want to offer the best always. The audience these days has no mercy and critics leave nothing without criticism. The difficult equation comes here when we want to offer a film that satisfies the audience and critics as well, the fact that results in a good industry at all art and technological levels,” Henaidi told the Arabic daily al Hayat.
Many argue that the high actors’ pays are the reasons behind the scarcity of film production. But Henaidi believes that “the comments about the high pays are extremely exaggerated. There is no cinema crisis as compared with the situation 15 years ago as there is a renaissance these days and films that generate millions. There are also companies that build screening venues in addition to the emergence of a complete generation of artists and technicians. All of this means that there are cinematic achievements and not crisis as many people claim” -- Albawaba.com
