In a coup for Egyptian director Mohammed Fadhel, singer Mohammed Fuad has agreed to costar in the TV series “Amira from Abdeen” (Princess from Abdeen), according to the daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
The series, which will be screened during the upcoming Ramadan, is written by Osama Anwar Ukashah and casts Samira Ahmed as the female lead.
Fuad has set two conditions for joining the cast: rewriting the script in a way that suits his singing talents, and postponing the shooting until after he rolls out his new film “Rihlet Hubb” (Love Journey) this summer.
Fuad has not starred in a movie for five years. His last film, “Ismaeliyyah Rayeh Gai,” costarred Ahmed Hilmi and new star Mahitab, and was directed by Mohammed Al Najjar.
The singer told Al Sharq Al Awsat that his new experience with television, which reaches everyone in their own homes, had him quite scared.
“This work may either take me to the peak, or drop me down if I fail…Failure in the cinema is something you can’t make a comeback from,” Fuad said.
However, he added: “My fears are soothed a bit by the satisfied feeling I get from working with prominent figures in writing, acting and directing.” - Albawaba.com
