After several news reports had it that prominent Egyptian singer Mohammad Muneer will star in his first television drama alongside Egyptian actress Summaya Al Khashab, the singer turned down his nomination and informed writer of the drama that he will not be taking part in the drama.
Director of the play Husni Saleh had attempted relentlessly to convince Muneer to be part of the drama and gave him the luxury of choosing the role that most suits him, but the singer refused all attempts and stressed that his decision is final.
The drama that Mohammad had been nominated for is about the famous massacre of Shafeeqa and Mitwali, and was previously created as a film starring the late Egyptian legendary actress Suad Husni and late legendary actor Ahmad Zaki.
Muneer’s withdrawal from the drama led the director to nominate actor Mahmoud Abd Al Ghani to play the leading role instead.
According to the internet website MBC.net, the drama will be Summaya’s big project to be aired during the Ramadan season of 2012.
