For women in the Arab world, sexual harassment is everyday occurence but one Egyptian director decided to tackle the subject head on. Mohamed Diab has won multiple awards for his movie '678' about harassment for Egytian women but now the French Justice Minister has given it her endorsement too.

Christiane Taubira wrote on her official Twitter page that, “The film “678” really appealed to me and gives hope. It shows the necessity of fighting harassment.”

The film was voted Best Foreign Film in France and broke records for the number of awards won at different international festivals. It has  been shown everywhere from Sweden to Brazil but Diab has had to fight off criticism over his negative portrayal of Egypt. According to the director, the issue of sexual harassment is universal so it doesn't matter that it was set in the North African nation.

Since Taubira wrote her endorsement, the film's distribution company has increased the number of copies of the film from 80 to 107 to keep up with increased demand.
