Young Egyptian actress Mirna Al Muhandis, who recently returned to the acting world after taking time off due to be treated for cancerous tumors in her abdominal, has once more been rushed to hospital after passing out being unable to take the pain she was feeling. The actress had previously thought that she was rid of her illness and so returned to taking on a number of acting jobs in different TV series, but over exhaustion led her condition to deteriorate once more becoming worse than it was at first.

According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Mirna announced that she headed to England to resume treatment for her condition and asks everyone to pray that she heals from her sever illness which has taken over her life. The actress revealed that in reality the pains she has been feeling had never ceased to exist since the first time she got sick, but she was ignoring them not wanting to negatively affect her acting career. The pain kept increasing by the minute as she was shooting the scenes for her upcoming TV series “Tala Nihlam bi Bukra” (Lets Dream of Tomorrow), and she had kept quiet until she arrived home and suddenly collapsed and was rushed to hospital by her family.

The TV drama "Qamar September" (Moon of September) marked Mirna’s first role after returning to the acting world. In the series Mirna played the role of a university student who throughout the course of events meets a well-known journalist played by Egyptian actress Mervat Amin, whom she becomes very attached to and begins to look up to her as the perfect role model.

Mirna has also been nominated by director Ali Badr Khan for the leading role in a second TV drama "Al Farashat Tahtariqn" (Butterflies Burning). The drama written by Abu Al Ula Slamouni is to costars Shweikar, Jala Fahmi, Hisham Abdul Hamid, Mahmoud Qabeel, Majda Khatib, and Abdul Aziz Makhyoun.

On a different note, late last year in an unexpected move, Mirna surprised everyone when she took off her Hijab (Islamic headdress), deciding it was in her best interest to return to her acting career.

Mirna felt she did not get her fair share from her acting career. She also stressed that she had rushed the idea of her Hijab and that in reality the time was not right and she was not fully prepared to give up everything at such an early stage. Her love for acting could not keep her away from the scenes for too long. Elaph reported that Mirna would appear on a television show in the next upcoming days without the Hijab. “My love of acting, and the fact that I want to star in new movies and TV series led me to take this decision with no regrets.” Mirna added.

The surprise of wearing the Hijab came during the month of April last year. Mirna had made the decision to end her acting career and devote herself to God and Islam. “I realized that I knew nothing about my religion, I used to act and dress in ways which are not in any way accepted by Islam. The inspiration to wear the Hijab came in a dream, where I felt God was reaching out to me. When I woke up I confronted my mother and my sister with my decision and they happily welcomed the idea,” Mirna said.

Mirna entered the hearts of everyone two years ago in the drama series “Banat Afkari” (My Brainchildren) scripted by Mohsen Zayed and directed by Yahya Al Alami. She costarred with Egyptian actress Elham Shahin and distinguished Egyptian Actor Mahmoud Mursi. -Albawaba.com
