Egyptian actress Mina Fadali has announced that she was assaulted by armed thugs as she was leaving Al Arab Mall in Cairo, accompanied by her good friend actor Ahmad Muhiy. She said that she was shocked when six men stopped her in her car and kidnapped her and her friend where they were then taken to one of the alleys in Cairo.
The actress added that the men beat her and Ahmad and began shooting at them with their guns. The thieves stole her handbag (which contained 50 thousand Egyptian pounds), her car and two cell phones before fleeing the scene.
Mina said that the men were of Palestinian origin and told her they will drive her car to Rafah in Palestine. The actress gave a description of the muggers to police officials, who are currently on searching for the assailants.
Aside from this incident, Mina has made it a point to be accompanied by her mother wherever she goes, albeit a social occasion or a personal errand, as a means of extra protection. Extra precautions are indeed necessary due to the instability in Egypt, seen in the increased frequency of kidnappings, theft and assault by thugs.
