Film fans and foodies rejoice!

Soon you will be able to indulge in both passions simultaneously, as famed British chef Gary Rhodes brings his new dining concept to the Mall of the Emirates.

‘VOX THEATRE by Rhodes’ is the unique combination of the latest cinematic releases paired with a special menu created by the Michelin starred chef. There will be four different screens offering various screening times throughout the day.

Rhodes told The National: “The great thing about this is that there is no other cinema group in the world offering this, we are not copying anybody and it is really exciting. The quality of food is something you would only expect to find at a restaurant, but at the same time it is simple enough to eat.

Careful consideration has been made in creating a menu that is appropriate to cinema viewing - easy to eat, high quality food such as crab on foccacia or peppered beef sticks with Chilean pomegranate jam in a serving box, with a branded napkin.

“The maximum you will need is a fork to scoff out of a bowl. Generally we’ll be serving up a tapas style of food with a Michelin star quality. That’s what I want to give.”

Gary says: “Let’s be honest, food is always going to take a little of your attention – you can’t avoid that even if you’re going to open a packet of sweets. But I think it is about making it as easy as possible. What I would love to do, of course, is almost stop them watching that movie for just those few seconds to say ‘you’ve got to try this’.

Traditional favorites will also feature, as well as classics with a twist. No trip to the cinema would be complete without popcorn: “We’ve been working on popcorn flavours and at the moment we are doing a little orange and sesame flavour. We have another which is slightly spiced and one which is truffle and parmesan. We are just giving it another edge so it is the kind of thing you won’t be able to get in any other cinema.”

"Taste and food wise, that is what we are trying to create. We hope to have people saying ‘what a great movie’ but at the same time the food is really tasty and the experience is the ultimate luxury” he told The National.
