Prominent Algerian singer Warda revealed that the main reason behind her divorce from the late legendary Egyptian musician Baleegh Hamdi was the song he presented to Syrian singer Mayada Al Hindawi. Warda said that she had wanted the song “Mish Awaydak” (Not your ways), but Baleegh insisted on giving the song to Mayada.
Warda at the same time denied rumors that she is behind Mayada’s ban from Egypt.
During a special interview with the Arab magazine Sayidati, Warda said that she loved Baleegh very much, but was not able to grant him what he wanted most in life, which is to have children.
She added that in the nineties she lived in turmoil while being married to Jamal Al Qasri, who made her quit her singing career. Warda said that she returned to her career after Algerian President personally requested she returns.
