ALBAWABA - Maxim Khalil returns to Syria after 12 years, marking a historic moment following Bashar al-Assad's resignation.

The return of Maxim Khalil to his homeland, Syria, came just a few days after the overthrow of the Syrian dictatorship and the resignation of Bashar al-Assad. He topped the trend on social media after getting a huge number of greetings and blessings from his followers in Syria and the Arab world.

The ongoing conflict in Syria forced Maxim to stay away from the country for a period of twelve years. Today, Thursday, December 19, he made his first visit to Syria in his whole life.

Users of social media also disseminated a large number of photographs and films that provided evidence of Maxim's existence in Syria. Specifically, these images captured Maxim in the Daraya neighborhood of Damascus, showcasing his displays of delight and emotion alongside his friends.

One of the fans of Maxim Khalil wrote, "Maxim Khalil is a man of principles; he said he would not return to fall, and he really did not return until he fell. You light up Syria." This is just one example of how a significant number of users on the X platform responded to his decision to return to his homeland.

Another follower replied, "The return of our free people to Syria has begun, with "General" Maxim Khalil in Free Syria." A third follower added, "A blast has occurred in Syria... and you light up Abu Hani. Congratulations on your return to Syria, and congratulations on the return of Syria." The return of Syria served as the context for both of these statements. Today, activist Hadi Abdullah posted a video that documented Maxim's happiness upon his return to the homeland. In the video, Maxim greeted the Syrian people and said, "Congratulations to all of you."
