The president of “Al Beit Al Fani” (The House of Art) and the head of actors union Ashraf Zaki has refused to include Lebanese singer/dancer Marwa to star in the new play “Yamama Bayda” (White Pigeon). The play will be shown on stage this summer season.

The producer Husam Al Deen Salah had nominated Marwa to take the role of the dancer after the dancer Safwat had turned it down. The producer made an agreement with Marwa where she met the composer Amar Al Shrai’i and poet Jamal Bakhit; however, the news came as a surprise when the Head of the Union, Ashraf, refused to have her star in the play.

He stated that the actors union had refused her because she is not Egyptian, and he feels she is not fit to act on the Egyptian National Theater. He also made it clear that she will never stand on stage as long as he is the Head of the Union.

According to Al Raya Daily on his part the producer of the play Husam Al Deen doesn’t think it is an excuse because she is not Egyptian. He thinks he has the right to work with whoever he thinks is the right person for any role.
