Marvel Studios has finally revealed the cast of its upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four, the iconic superhero team that was the first creation of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
The film, which will be directed by Matt Shakman, best known for his work on WandaVision, will star Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the four heroes who gain extraordinary powers after a cosmic radiation accident.
Pascal, who rose to fame with his roles in Game of Thrones and The Mandalorian, will play Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, the brilliant scientist and leader of the team who can stretch his body to incredible lengths.
Kirby, who earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in Pieces of a Woman, will play Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman, Reed’s girlfriend and later wife who can manipulate light to become invisible and create force fields.
Quinn, who made a splash with his role as Eddie in Stranger Things, will play Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch, Sue’s younger brother who can engulf himself in flames and fly.
Moss-Bachrach, who won an Emmy for his supporting role in the comedy series The Bear, will play Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, Reed’s best friend and pilot who is transformed into a rock-like creature with super strength.
The Fantastic Four will also feature one of the most formidable villains in the Marvel universe, Victor von Doom, aka Doctor Doom, the ruler of the fictional nation of Latveria who has a personal vendetta against Reed and his team. However, the actor who will portray Doom has not been announced yet.
The Fantastic Four is scheduled to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, as part of the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The characters were previously owned by 20th Century Fox, which produced three films based on them, none of which were well-received by critics or fans. The most recent attempt, in 2015, starred Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan, and was a critical and commercial flop. After Disney acquired Fox in 2019, the rights to the characters reverted to Marvel Studios, which has been planning to reintroduce them to the MCU ever since.
The film will be the first time that the characters will interact with other heroes and villains from the MCU, such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel.
The film is expected to be a major event for Marvel Studios, which has been expanding its cinematic universe with new films and TV shows on Disney+.
