Lebanese singer Maisam Nahas was forced to cancel her scheduled concert in Cairo after she was forbidden by Lebanese authorities to leave Lebanon and was held under airport security custody for hours before being sent home. Maisam revealed that the incident had occurred after her ex-husband had filed a lawsuit against her.

According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Maisam announced that the matter will be resolved in the upcoming once she receives her divorce papers. Nahas has just released her latest album “Fakarit Ikteer” (I Thought a lot) and held a press conference in which she announced her divorce from musician Rojeh Abu Aqel. The singer refused to reveal the details that led to her divorce, simply stating that the two encountered several problems that could not be resolved.

The news of the divorce was previously circulating around Lebanon, when a close relative to Maisam revealed that the singer and her husband separated peacefully and without any legal problems. No details were given, and the news remained as an assumption until Maisam made her public announcement.

Maisam was married to Abu Aqel for almost five years and had a baby boy. The singer had always made it a point to talk about the love she shares with her husband and the support he gives her on every interview she held. She always stressed how happy they are and how her husband and son were the main reason behind her success. Maisam added that her husband was practically her business manager and that she always consulted him on every move before making it.

On a different note, Rotana Production Company produces Maisam’s latest album, and the latter held a special ceremony to celebrate the singer’s album release. The album features ten different songs sung in both Lebanese and Egyptian accents. –Albawaba.com
