It seems Universal Pictures missed out on an opportunity to promote inclusivity through one of its biggest tent pole properties.
Actress Daniella Pineda, who stars in the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom with Chris Pratt, has revealed that a line of dialogue that would have revealed her character to be a lesbian was cut in the editing room.
'I understood why they cut it — for sake of time,' she said in an interview at Build on Friday.

She described the scene, telling Build: 'It's me and Chris Pratt and we are in a military vehicle with all of these mercenaries. I look at Chris and am like, 'Yeah. Square jaw. Good bone structure. Tall. Muscles. I don't date men, but if I did, it would be you. It would gross me out, but I would do it.''
The actress admitted she regretted the edit, commenting: 'It was cool because it was a little insight into my character.'
In Fallen Kingdom, Pineda plays paleoveterinarian Zia Rodriguez who joins with Pratt's Owen Grady to rescue dinosaurs from their island following a volcanic eruption.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, big-budget blockbusters such as Star Trek Beyond, Power Rangers and Beauty and the Beast have had brief LBGTQ character moments.
But a May GLAAD report stated that just 12.8 percent of studio films from last year included LGBTQ characters, the lowest percentage since the organization began keeping tabs in 2012.
However, THR.com reports, it does note that the recently released gay teen romance Love, Simon and comic book sequel Deadpool 2 (which features a lesbian X-Men couple) have raised the bar for representation.
But other projects that have drawn upon source material featuring LGBTQ characters opted not to depict them onscreen that way. Tessa Thompson has noted that her Thor: Ragnarok character Valkyrie is bisexual in the comics, and though that isn't addressed in the film, the actress "was faithful to that in her depiction."
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens Friday and also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Jeff Goldblum, James Cromwell and Toby Jones.
Creature feature: Earlier this month, Pineda shared this snap of herself with one of the movie's dinosaurs during the film's press junket n Hawaii. The Jurassic World sequel opens Friday
