Justice was served for Leila Ghofran on Thursday after her daughter's killer was hanged six years after his horrendous crime, security officials said.
The Moroccan singer's daughter, Heba al-Akkad, was only 23-years-old when sadly she and her friend Nadine Gamal were killed in a bungled burglary at their home in one of Cairo's affluent suburbs, according to AFP.
Police said that the November 2008 murderer was a blacksmith, who entered Akkad's apartment with the intention of stealing money.
In 2010, Mahmoud Al Issawi was rightfully sentenced to death, and the capital punishments took place at the Wadi al-Natrun prison.
Egypt applies the death penalty infrequently. However, since the army ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi in July, things have changed.
Hundreds of Morsi's supporters have been sentenced to death in speedy mass trials that have sparked an international outcry, reported AFP.
