Egyptian lawyer Abd Al Hameed Sha’lan has filed a lawsuit against Egyptian actress Ghada Abd Al Raziq and the makers of her latest film “Riklam” accusing them of insulting the reputation of Egyptian women. Abd Al Hameed stated that he decided to file the lawsuit to stop completing the film claiming that the story of it aims at ruining the reputation of Egyptian women saying that they seek prostitution to be able to make a living.
Abd Al Hameed added that the film makers have taken advantage of difficult circumstances society is going through to use a storyline for the film depicting women forced to sell their bodies to make a living. Abd Al Hameed stressed that the only reason such scenarios are used is to ensure that the film contains sex scenes to attract audiences.
According to the internet website MBC.net, on their part, Ghada and the makers of the film were very surprised with the lawsuit by the lawyer who had not watched the film. Ghada stressed that the film does not depict all Egyptian women in a negative way as the lawyer claims. She added that the film portrays both the good and bad aspects of society and does not contain any sex scenes. Ghada said that she does not understand how Abd Al Hameed could file a lawsuit without watching the film.
