Prominent Tunisian singer Latifa celebrated her Grammy Award in Beirut, which she won for her song [Ma Trohsh Be’eed] that was a hit in the Arab world. The celebration was held in Mandalon restaurant, and was attended by a large group of people from the media and entertainment world.
Latifa voiced to the media "I am very happy to win this international prize and I would like to thank all the people who contributed in this victory, and I am also very grateful to all the Lebanese people who supported me all the way."
About her latest theatre experience she said it added a lot to her as an artist because she can see the audience' impressions directly which is a bit different than people listening to her through her albums.
Latifa thanked director Muhsen Jaber for his cooperation and she denied any deal that gives Muhsen exclusive rights to her work. At the end of the party Latifa sang to her fans a song entitled [Khalouni] in the Tunisian accent.
Latifa dedicated the award to her homeland Tunisia and all her fans who were behind her every step of the way. The singer won the award for Best work by an Arab artist for the entire Middle East area.
The grand awards ceremony was held at the Thomas and Mack Center, and the American television network ABC broadcasted the event live in the US, Canada, and Mexico, whereas the music satellite channel Mazzika had bought the rights to broadcast the ceremony to the Arab world.
Latifa is the first Tunisian singer to win the international award, proving that she has come a long way in her career. Last year the award was given to Moroccan singer Samira Sa’eed and the year before that to Egyptian singer Amr Diab. -Albawaba.com
