The Lebanese artist Laila Iskander recently appeared as a guest on the entertainment show “Oyoun Beirut” (The eyes of Beirut.) The hour long program is aired live on “Al Youm” satellite channel with the two co-hosts Lilyan Nasi and Grace Baqlini.

The major topic of the live interview was about how Laila’s songs were stolen and illegally posted on the internet.  The stolen song is sung in Arabic with Turkish rhymes.

According to the London daily Elaph, Laila recorded the demo before buying the rights to the song from the composer. A thief attacked her and stole here handbag, which contained the tape of the song.

Laila sang in Arabic and in French, but was unwilling to perform the stolen song on the program.

Laila also sang her song “Al Salfah O Ma Feeha” (The Story Goes), sung in the Khaliji (Gulf) dialect, “Ahwak Ba Amal” (Love You Without Hope) for the great Lebanese singer Fairouze and “Les Feuilles Mortes” for French singer Edett Biaf.

Laila concluded the interview by saying that her new project is a new song in the Egyptian dialect and it was a birthday present from the poet Ahmad Al Madi. The new song is called “Qader Ala Bodi” (Can You Handel Being Away From Me).

She will have a busy summer season hosting live concerts in Lebanon, and various Arab countries, and in Europe. She will join the Tunisian singer Saber Al Ribaie in a collection of summer celebrations.

Laila is considering taking the leading role in a new Lebanese film.
