Laila Elwi: another victim of love

Egyptian director Adel al Assar is currently gearing up for the shooting of his latest film al Mutasawila (the beggar) scripted by Hamdi Abdel Ghani, according to the daily al Gomhuria. 

Costarring in the film are Laila Elwi, Mahmoud Hamida, Hassan Husni, Magida Zaki and Abla Kamel. 

The drama depicts the story of a country girl (played by Elwi) moving to the big city to pursue her talents in painting at one of its universities. 

Upon reaching the city, she meets a local businessman who manages to convince her of how fond he is of her paintings. A relationship between the two sonn develops, which later ends in heartbreak for the poor girl. 

As she tries to seek revenge, she comes to realize how limited she is in doing so due to the old fashioned traditions of her society. 

Some of the film scenes will be shot at the fine arts collage in Cairo and the new library of Alexandria. 

In the meantime, Elwi is wrapping another film entitled Nasmah Fi Mahab al Rih (a breeze in the wind) about a young girl’s dreams of becoming as elegant as Marline Monroe. Her excessive obesity causes her a psychological complex and faces problems with the society -- Albawaba.com
