Syrian beauty, Kinda Alloush, is an outspoken critic of current president, Bashar al-Assad, but she's not about to stop other people disagreeing with her.

So when pro-regime movie, 'Al Ashiq' (The Lover) was banned at Cairo International Film Festival, the fiesty actress decided to speak her mind and stand up for freedom of expression everywhere.

In an interview with Al Jarida newspaper this week, the actress said: "we are calling for freedom of expression and to ban it [the film] we are contradicting what we are demanding for the mere fact that it reflects different political views.

"If the film abides by the regulations of the festival and does not contain any messages of terrorism and violence, then it should have been screened and its director should have been given the chance to express his views," she added.

The film is directed and written by Syrian director Abd Al Latif Abd Al Hamid and stars Syrian actors Abdel Minem Amayri, Dima Qandalfat, Jamal Al Ali, Fadi Subaih and Qais Shaikh Najeeb. It was produced by the Syrian General Cinema Institute.
