Khairiyeh Ahmad passes away

Prominent Egyptian comedian actress Khairiyeh Ahmad has passed away at the age of 74 after a long battle with lung cancer. Earlier last week, doctors had announced that the late actress, who was in hospital being treated, was gradually improving and that her spirits were high, especially after she was visited by family members and friends. One of the people that stuck by Khairiyeh’s side at the hospital was her sister, prominent actress Sameerah Ahmad.

 

Khairyieh was considered one of the icons of Egyptian comedy and had presented throughout her career 60 films, 25 plays and over 20 television dramas. She was recognized for all her contributions in Egypt and the Arab world.

 

Among her most noted works are the films “Al Fanooos Al Sihri” (The magic lantern), “Saher Al Nisa” (Women’s musician), the plays “Mirati Bind Jin” (My wife the daughter of a Jinni), “Al Abeet” (The idiot), “Nimrah 2 Yaksab” (Number 2 wins) and among her most popular dramas are “Sakin Qusadi” (Living next to me), “Sabah Al Khair Ya Jari Al Aziz” (Good morning my good neighbor) and many more.
