Kevin Turen, the accomplished producer behind the HBO hit series "Euphoria," passed away suddenly at the age of 44.
The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Turen's father, Edward Turen, expressed the profound impact of his son's loss, stating, “Kevin was so incredibly special, this world is going to be less without him.” Turen's contributions to "Euphoria" were recognized with an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series in 2022, solidifying his status as one of the industry's rising stars.
In addition to his work on "Euphoria," Turen earned a Gotham Awards best feature nomination for the 2019 film "Waves." Despite his numerous professional achievements, Turen's greatest passion, according to Jay Penske, the media mogul and owner of The Hollywood Reporter, was his family and friends.
Penske remarked, “Despite his many achievements ... Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends. He was so proud of his children. He and his wife, Evelina, were resolved that their children grow up with great values and ensured they make a difference in the broader world. Our collective heart breaks for them, and we all feel such a profound sense of loss.”
A native New Yorker and a Columbia film graduate, Turen amassed an impressive list of producing credits throughout his career. Some notable projects include "Wassup Rockers" (2005), "All Is Lost" (2013), and "The Birth of a Nation" (2016).
Turen is survived by his wife, actor Evelina Turen, and their sons Jack and James. The entertainment industry mourns the loss of this talented producer, and Jay Penske aptly captured the sentiment, stating, “Hollywood lost one of its brightest rising stars today.” The tragic news comes just months after the death of "Euphoria" actor Angus Cloud, who passed away in July from an accidental drug overdose.
