Very beautiful, I mostly enjoyed visiting an abaya shop where I found some magnificent pieces. I tried some out and I will be working on some ideas for my own abaya designs for my site. I’m very busy during the trip, there’s a lot to be done. I also spent a wonderful time on the beach.
So how did you feel about wearing an abaya?
They are very pretty; I really liked one in pink. What I really liked about it is how similar it is to an evening gown, yet it’s very comfortable.
Your family is with you on this trip. How do you feel about that?
I’m very excited about my family being with me to share in the experience with the Arab audience which loves me. It’s truly amazing and they were also very excited to come here so we can stay together.
This is your first visit to the Emirates. Have you visited any other Arab country?
Yes, I visited Qatar a few years ago. I participated in an international 40-km horse race, where I came in third. It was a fun race, and I hope to visit all the Arab countries.
“The Bold and the Beautiful” is a huge success in the Arab world. Do you think of it as the reason behind your fame here?
I did find the series to be hugely popular in the Arab world and the rest of the world too. I sensed that in Monte Carlo. The producer was very enthusiastic about shooting some scenes in Abu Dhabi because it combines many Arab and foreign nationalities.
We were told you will be shooting two episodes in the UAE. Is that correct?
Sort of .. I think we will be shooting more than an episode, I do not know exactly, but we will be shooting some outdoor scenes, for example, we are heading to the Emirates Palace Hotel. I mean most of the outdoor scenes will be filmed here in Abu Dhabi.
How do you prepare for each season of the series?
We read every night for an hour or two, my friend reads the other characters’ scripts and we rehearse together. Other times my daughter plays the other characters (laughing). It’s more like a homework I do every day, go to work and then come back home to study.
Money and fame can cause conflict. Did they affect you socially, especially your family life?
If you’re talking about having a public life, the most important thing in our lives are relationships and love, as they bring people together. As long as there are strong ties between people, there shouldn't be problems of any kind.
Do you prefer cinema or television?
When I was young and starting out, I wanted to be in movies. I have made many films after working on TV series and the experience was fantastic and successful. I liked the result, I am willing and have the ability to offer more movies and series, I love them both.
Have you regretted doing any roles?
I have a work principle. I take it seriously and am 100 percent ready for it. It’s impossible to stop learning. I learn something new every day, and as long as I love my job and prepare for it there are no regrets. l feel good about roles I have done or will do.
Is there a role you haven’t played but wish you could?
I haven’t thought about that.
An Arabic role perhaps (joking)?
That is possible! (laughing) But I can’t speak Arabic so I cannot determine which role I wish to portray. I’ve been offered roles in many great movies this year, and I hope to do one that I liked. I love drama and comedy, and I’ll be happy to do a comedy after working in a drama.
Does your daughter have the acting bug? What does she like?
She used to be a tennis player for several years, but she grew tired of it and now she wants to perform, dance and sing. I will support her.
So you’re following in your mum’s footsteps as she supported your choice to be an actress, active in sports and a businesswoman.
My mom helped me a lot in many ways, she is always there to encourage me. She always enhanced the feeling that I can do anything. I think it is very important for children to have supportive fathers and mothers, encouraging them and believing in their talent. My mother loves me too, she is a wonderful person who gave me all the confidence to get to where I am now.
You have been described as the celebrity with the prettiest smile. What have you got to say about that?
Really? I am speechless. I got my smile from my mother so I guess I have to thank her for that.
What about your fans?
They are dear, they make me smile and encourage me. I do not like to consider them as fans or just an audience, as I would be separating them by calling them that. We are all human beings and they are great people who love me and my work. When I tweet even a simple thing they write beautiful comments that please me.
How have you managed to stay slim all these years?
It’s been very difficult. It took a lot of time and it exhausted me a lot because I have been training and performing difficult exercises to get this body. But I love the exercises because they release stress and I always feel good. I have been working out all my life, it is a part of me.
What beauty product do you always have in your bag?
I don’t like wearing make-up unless it’s necessary, as you see. So I don’t carry any except for lip balm.
What animals do you love most?
Horses, definitely.
Talking about animals, which ones do you fear the most and why?
I always think mountains lions because I go hiking. In our area there are a lot of lions, and we hear a lot about people being attacked by them, so that’s a big fear for me. I’m also afraid of sharks. I wouldn’t want one to eat me.
What do you have to say to your Arabic audience now that you are visiting the UAE?
I love them very much and I appreciate all they do for me as they were the ones who helped me get to where I am now, I thank my Arab audience for following my work, I appreciate your encouragement and your love. You really are great.
