Kathem’s dilemma with the Opera continues

Prominent Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher has assured that he refuses to hold any form of negotiations with the Egyptian Opera House and to return and hold concerts in it after the Opera House had banned him from singing in it the past several years.

The Opera House had made its previous decision to ban the singer for canceling a prescheduled concert in the past on the notion that he urgently had to leave Egypt, but was later discovered that he never left the country and had in fact held private concert for an Arab Princess.

Several Egyptian newspapers had supported the Opera House’s decision to ban the singer at the time.

The singer had publicly announced recently that there is no disputes between him and the Opera House and that he holds very high respect for it. He added that the Opera House had condemned him two years ago with not allowing him to sing, and made it a point to mention the incident as often as possible.

For this reason the singer asserted that he will not attempt to make mends with the Opera House because he simply does not wish to do so.

Kathem said he made this decision because he accused the Opera House of making the drastic decision of banning him without even attempting to ask him the real reason he had cancelled the concert. He added that he is a singer who sings for everyone and everywhere, and if there is a place that refuses him then there are many others that are more than willing to have him perform.

According to the London based weekly, Sayidaty, Kathem said that after the Opera House announced their decision to ban him, he felt very humiliated, because they did not respect him or hear his side.

On a different note, Kathem also said that he is 47 years old and is still searching for the perfect mate whose characteristics consist of being caring, sweet, and has his mother’s patience. He added that he does not mind getting involved with a young woman who is still in her twenties an if he finds the right person he will not hesitate to cancel half of his concerts and travels for her sake. He added that the rumor of an intimate relationship with Moroccan singer Asma Al Manour is a mere lie.

With regards to the singer’s relationship with the Music Production Company Rotana, he stressed that it is on excellent terms and there are no disputes between them.

He added that the fact that he mentioned their neglecting to hold a proper advertising campaign for his recent album, does not mean that problems erupted. He added that he had resolved the matter with the company and they promised him to give his release more attention.
