Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher’s song Ana Wa Layla (Layla and I), will be adapted for the small screen, according to Al Sharq el Awsat newspaper.

The songs lyrics, written by famous poet Hassan el Marwan depict a love story between the writer and a young woman named Layla. Meanwhile, this song raised many eyebrows within the cultural Iraqi society.

The London based daily said that Kathem himself will be composing the music for the series, which will be adapted for the screen by writer Ahmad Hatef. Saher is hoping that he will be able to record the music for the series in Egypt after he is finished with studying the script. Meanwhile, the singer sent a letter to the writer of the poet of the song expressing his joy at the project and saying that he hopes that the cast, yet to be chosen will be as enthusiastic. Kathem released the song in 1998. – Albawaba.com.
