ALBAWABA - Jay-Z's attorney is attempting to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the rapper of raping a 13-year-old girl after the Jane Doe admitted inconsistencies in her allegations, according to a new NBC News story.
A woman known only as "Jane Doe" filed a complaint against Sean "Diddy" Combs in October, alleging that he raped her at a party after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was allegedly present and participated in the assault, according to a modification of the lawsuit on Sunday.
In a recent interview with NBC News, the 38-year-old Alabama woman recounted a "catastrophic event" that occurred 24 years ago, asserting that she received a tainted drink before experiencing molestation. In response to the outlet's questioning, she and her lawyers acknowledged several differences in her recall of that night. "I have made some mistakes," she admitted.
The contradictions include the woman claiming her father picked her up after the alleged sexual assault, although he denies doing so. The Jane Doe also claims to have spoken with another celebrity at the afterparty where the sexual assault occurred; however, that celebrity (Benji Madden of Good Charlotte) claims he was not in New York that night because the band was on tour in the Midwest at the time.

Carter stated in response to the NBC News investigation, "Today's investigative report proves this 'attorney' [Tony] Buzbee filed a false complaint against me in the pursuit of money and fame." Despite the non-occurrence of this incident, he proceeded to file a lawsuit and increased his media presence. True justice will come. We fought for victory, not for it. This was over before it started. This 1-800 lawyer hasn't realized it yet, but he will soon."
Alex Spiro, the rapper's attorney, added, "It is remarkable that a lawyer would not only file such a severe lawsuit without adequate vetting but would make matters worse by further promoting this bogus claim in the press. We are asking the court to dismiss this frivolous litigation today, and we will consider additional disciplinary action against Mr. Buzbee and all of the lawyers who submitted the complaint."
