The Israeli newspaper Yidiot Ahranot featured a full-page article on the Egyptian singer Shaaban Abdulrahim who has recently gained both success and notoriety following the release of his hit song “I hate Israel and love Amr Mousa”.

The Egyptian magazine Akher Saa’h “ Last Hour” said that the Israeli editor, Samdar Beri, mentioned in her article that she met with Shaaban in Cairo. But the editor didn’t mentioned any details about the meeting apart from introducing herself as an Israeli journalist. The Egyptian weekly magazine inquired whether the Israeli editor got the information from the taxi driver who transported her from the Zamalek neighborhood in Cairo to the Israeli embassy?

The Israeli newspaper has been writing on subjects harming Egyptians for a long time, and has involved itself in internal Egyptian issues claiming to know their secrets, said the Egyptian weekly magazine.

According to Samdar, Shaaban’s call to simple Egyptian citizen to die as Martyrs and sacrifice their lives for the sake of the conflict with the hated Israelis do not make columnists or editors angry. She added that his new song emerged only after the Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak, spared no opportunity to talk about regional development and how to avoid devastating wars. The president said in an interview with the Egyptian TV one month ago that anyone who had not witnessed the horrors of wars as he did, will never recognize the devastation and suffering they cause to people.

The Israeli newspaper says that President Mubarak is not the only one who does not agree with the song’s words. Shaaban has succeeded in involving the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Amr Mousa, who appreciated the song. Samdar added that the American Ambassador in Cairo, who is a Jew, is concerned about Shaaban Abdulrahim’s new song. The ambassador used to invite the Egyptian singer to sing at the American Embassy ceremonial parties before Shaaban released his song, which according to the Israelis calls for belligerence against them. Now, the ambassador will find it difficult to invite Shaaban to parties at the embassy.

Samdar believes that the quick success of the song “ I hate Israelis” has made Shaaban a rich man who owns a car, mobile phone, and a lot of money. He has received many invitations to appear at social wedding parties of Egyptian communities worldwide. The singer was not enthusiastic to respond to the invitations, and he announced that he would not leave Egypt at all because of his fear of travelling by plane and because he does not know English. Otherwise the singer feels secure and protected in Egypt away from the Israeli Mossad.

Shaaban is currently preparing to compose a new song which will also be against Israel. In the new song, Shaaban blasts the Israeli minister of infrastructure, Liberman, in Sharon’s cabinet, who has threatened more than once to bombard the Egyptian High Dam in Aswan and attacking the Iranian capital, Teheran. Shaaban is pleased with the rhyme and rhythm of the two words Aswan and Teheran.
