Elba expressed his gratitude that so many of his fans thought he would be a good James Bond. Elba went on to explain that the casting of James Bond was unique, as everyone should have been involved in the decision-making process.
Elba did admit, though, that he had become tired of portraying Bond. Despite the fact that a lot of people wanted him to fill the part, some fans of James Bond felt that his casting was racially discriminatory. Elba was unwilling to handle the controversy.
The role of the ultrasuave British spy appears to have gone to Taylor-Johnson, 33. Insiders close to the series are reportedly evaluating Zendaya, 27, and Sydney, 26, as potential on-screen love interests.
The English guitarist John Newman says he's close friends with Elba. The two discussed the actor's potential as a Bond behind closed doors. Elba might have been more interested in playing a different kind of Bond character, according to Newman.
There has been much speculation over the identity of the next James Bond since Daniel Craig said that No Time to Die would be his last film in the role. The Sun revealed in March 2024 that they had made Aaron Taylor-Johnson an offer for the position, although they haven't made an official statement yet.
