Hollywood refused to help US president George Bush in his war on Iraq campaign and create any films to support him. The president had requested that Hollywood create films that support the war on Iraq and show to the American public that the decision their president had made is the only reasonable one, Variety magazine reported.
Jack Valenti, president of Motion Pictures of America and who is known to be one of Hollywood's most prominent figures, told White House officials that he refuses to back American politics and create films in their favor as he previously did during the September 11th attacks on New York. Jack added that the music industry does not need another ridiculous film that sells meaningless propaganda. He suggested the White house pass out movies to the soldiers who are forced to fight in Iraq instead.
On the anniversary of the September 11th attacks, Hollywood had created films in memory of the victims upon a request from the White house, in addition to films that commercialize the so-called American dream. Jack said that creating a film that supports the US war on Iraq will create numerous problems among actors and the public who are against Bush's call of war and military advancement in a case that is of no concern to most Americans.
The negative atmosphere of the war had clouded over most Americans and was especially evident at the 75th Oscars Awards. A number of actors had refused to attend the event saying it should have been postponed because of the war. Others, who attended, spoke out openly saying they are completely against it and reprimanded Bush for taking America into it. –Albawaba.com
