Egyptian singer Hisham Abbas is to begin recording a new song "Bi Ay Haq" (With What Right) exclusively for the suffering Iraqi people. The singer feels that through his song, he is better able to portray his feelings and views towards the US-British unjust war on Iraq.
According to the Egyptian based daily, Al Ahram, upon completion of the recording process, Hisham will resume and begin shooting a music video for the song, which will be directed by Adel Adeeb, in the hope that it will be aired in the very near future. The singer expressed his sorrow and anger towards what is happening in Iraq especially since innocent children and civilians are the ones paying the highest price.
Hisham added that "With What Right" is his way of contributing to the Iraqi people, in the sense that the song will show to the world how unjust the attack on them is. The song is written by poet Rabi' Al Saioufi, composed by Amro Mustafa and distributed by Hani Jacob.
On a different note, Abbas had earlier decided to add a collection of Mohammad Abdul Wahab’s songs which he intends to include in his new album. Hisham has decided to make his release on the 13th of March, which coincides with Abdo’s birthday.
Hisham said that he does not intend to limit himself to singing only Abdo’s songs, but hope that he will get the chance to sing the songs of other prominent singers. The trend of singers singing for others has been a phenomenon helping some achieves success. Abbas hopes to find the success Midhat Saleh, who sang over 30 songs for other great singers, found.
Abbas will also debut in acting in a new film “Al Sanah Eli Jaieh” (The Upcoming Year) with Egyptian belly dancer Dina directed Hisham Abdul Khaliq. The film, also costarring Egyptian actor Mahmoud Humeida, revolves around a dancer and an actor who struggle to find suitable work opportunities to make their dreams come true.
Born in Cairo, Hisham graduated as a mechanical engineer, but ended up having a career in music. "Though nobody in my family is into music, I was always musically inclined. I was 16 when I started singing and had my own band called Bats." He studied engineering to please his father, who’s also an engineer. Later on, Hisham convinced him that his heart is into music and his father relented. He started out as a sound engineer, and then moved on to singing and composing." –Albawaba.com
