ALBAWABA - Hannah Einbinder shocks Emmys with bold message after winning award.
Hannah Einbinder used the Emmys stage to send a strong message of support for the people of Gaza and those who have been hurt by the attacks on refugees by the Trump administration.
Saturday night, Einbinder accepted her award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her part in Hacks. At the end of her speech, she took a moment to talk about politics.
Einbinder, who had a funny speech about how she had grown to like not winning after all these years, said, "Finally, I just want to say: Go Birds, fuck ICE, and free Palestine." She was wearing an Artists4Ceasefire pin on her dress. (The reference to the "Birds" was a nod to the Philadelphia Eagles, who beat the Kansas City Chiefs earlier that day.)
Both CBS and Paramount+ cut out the swear word during the broadcast. Instead, they showed a wide shot of the crowd at the awards show and then zoomed back in on the actress to show the end of the word "ICE."

"It's a subject that's critical to me for many reasons," she told the press room behind the scenes. "As a Jewish person, it is my duty to make a distinction between Jews and the state of Israel. Our culture and religion are so vital and longstanding that they don't belong in this ethnonationalist state.
At the awards show, Einbinder wasn't the only Hacks actor who talked about the violence between Israel and Gaza. In the beginning of the night, actor Meg Stalter, who is known for wearing crazy clothes, wore a black leather bag with white tape that said "CEASE FIRE!"
Einbinder's last few posts on Instagram Story were about Israel's "relentless bombs" on the Gaza area. As one of the main people involved with Artists4Ceasefire, she even co-posted a call to action in July that said, "Two million Palestinians in Gaza face unprecedented levels of starvation."
In July, the group said, "We call on our leaders—all those with power in the U.S. and around the world—to use their power to ACT NOW and demand Israel LET AID IN." "Our call hasn't changed: we want an immediate and permanent end to the fighting, aid to be sent to Gaza without any problems right away, and all the hostages to be freed."
After Einbinder left the stage, Nate Bargatze, the host of the Emmys, made fun of the fact that she used a swear word: "She also cursed..." "I'm going to start a swear jar right away," he said, referring to his ongoing Boys and Girls Club fund. He said that the amount of money in it would change based on how long the Emmy winners' acceptance talks were.
She beat out last year's winner Liza Colón-Zayas, Catherine O'Hara and Kathryn Hahn from The Studio, Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph from Abbott Elementary, and Jessica Williams from Shrinking for the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
